摘要
Computer-aided process plan (CAPP) is considered to be the bridge that joins Computer aided design (CAD) and Computer aided manufacturing (CAM). Although it has been developed for some two decades, CAPP is still a bottleneck of product design/ manufacturing cycle automation. Besides the information Integration with other activities in Computer integrated manufacturing system (CIMS) These limitations should attributed to that human factor has been ignored in CAPP research. Visualization is a powerful way to connect the user and computer so that they can share the information and problem-solving process. Based on the analysis to the essence of CAPP 's defects, this paper advances the concept of visualization of CAPP. Then it presents the framework and flow chart of a visual CAPP prototype system - VCAPP. At last, it describes the essential technologies used in VCAPP, which includes Tool space & Setup space, Feature grading & grouping based on Geometry reasoning.
