SFrame: Design & Development of Smart Framework to Port Linux Kernel on ARM based Raspberry Pi

摘要
Linux progresses regularly in the field of embedded systems because it is an open source, rich in code resources and is compatible with many types of CPU architectures. The ARM board is the optimal stage for lessening the cost and threat of advanced system on chip designs. These boards combine the field- programmable gate array technology with Application Specific Integrated Circuit technology and offer the best solution in respect of cost, time and speed. ARM based Raspberry Pi created by the Raspberry Pi Foundation at the University of Cambridge, offers an advanced hardware platform and addresses several areas of special embedded applications. The paper describes the manual process of porting the Linux kernel on ARM based Raspberry Pi. It also focuses on the design & development of smart framework to automatically build the customize kernel image for ARM based Raspberry Pi with selected scheduling policy. The results shows that the porting of Linux Kernel through the smart framework is feasible, better and time of building the kernel image reduces by more than 50%.
