Multi-wave post-buckling analysis of thin-walled members

摘要
As an extension of the single-wave buckling analysis (2000), a concept of multi-wave buckling is presented to describe interactions of single-wave buckling modes of thin-walled structures with initial imperfections. Using the complex finite-strip method (1974, 2000) combined with the Garlerkin variational principle, a set of nonlinear equations is derived to analyze the multi-wave post-buckling behavior. A numerical example of thin-walled columns of lipped channel is given to illustrate the multiwave buckling phenomenon. It is shown that the multi-wave buckling may be more dangerous than the single-wave buckling when a certain initial imperfection is present in a member.
