摘要
This paper presents design and experiment test of a novel shear type MR damper using permanent-magnet (PM). The damping force of permanent-magnet MR (PMMR) damper is generated by PM in piston without electro-magnetic coils, and the damping force is changed by the location of piston. In order to change damping force, PMMR damper has magnetization area shaped like a triangle in the structure of ferromagnetic housing. The structure of rotating piston model developed to achieve high performance in jounce and rebound motion. After analyzing the magnetic analysis using finite element method, a prototype of the PMMR damper is designed and manufactured. Then, damping force versus piston velocity is investigated with respect to the location of the piston.
