Calculation of dendrite tip temperature during constrained growth

摘要
One of the key problems in modelling the solidification process of alloys is the determination of the actual growth temperature of the solid/liquid interface (dendrite tip). Five different effects are known to influence the growth temperature, depending on growth velocity and temperature gradient at the dendrite tip. The effects exerting an influence in the case of constrained growth (thermodynamic correction, kinetic, curvature and solutal undercooling) are calculated using the most accepted models. As an example the calculation results are presented for an Al-1wt%Si alloy.
