Information technology for occupational health and safety audit

This paper carries out a revision of the requirements of the statutory occupational health and safety audit and the potential implementation of information technology to improve this activity. Starting from the experience of a professional safety auditing company, a general management process is proposed to carry out the whole activity. The revision of the different steps reveals those in which information technology could be especially useful for optimization purposes. A documental structure is designed to manage all the documents needed in the fieldwork. As well as this, the structure of the final report is defined. The implementation of this structure and the process model in an integrated information system is described and the results of the whole work are presented and discussed.
