摘要
the deployment of low power sensor nodes to collect useful information effectively is critical for the sensor network to operate for a long duration. To increase network lifetime, energy consumption is considered as one of an essential performance metric. The aim of all the routing protocols so far proposed is reduction in the amount of energy consumed and to enhance the network lifetime. Two such routing protocols are Low Energy Adaptive Cluster Hierarchical Routing (LEACH) and Power Efficient Gathering in Sensor Information System (PEGASIS). LEACH is a cluster based routing protocol in which sensor nodes are combined together to form separate clusters. Every cluster has a leader node termed as cluster head(CH).While the PEGASIS protocol is based on the concept of chaining where a logical chain is formed among sensor nodes and each sensor node forwards the detected information to the node near to it and this goes on. The remote base station receives the detected information from node to node. In this paper, we have done the analytical study of both the existing protocols.
