Preliminary study of enterprise resource planning (ERP) implementation in construction companies of China

摘要
This paper first briefs the current status of implementation of information technology and information systems in the construction industry of China. Based on the comparison of differences between construction industry and manufacturing industry, the study analyzes the unique features, architecture and functional modules of construction enterprise resource planning systems in detail. A successful case of implementation of Shanghai Justwin Software Company's construction. ERP system in Construction Corporation of China Great Wall Aluminium is studied in this paper, and at the end of this paper presents some advice about the informationization of construction industry of China. Enterprise resource planning (ERP) was firstly presented by Gartner Group at the beginning of the 90s in 20(th) century. It embodies the most advanced management concepts. ERP systems accept new and innovative information technology, and base of the whole supply chain management concept of the enterprise. ERP systems integrate all of the materials, capital and information, allocate enterprise's resources accurately and effectively and offer decision support and assistant management. (Zhang, 2002) It origins in manufacturing, but nowadays it is widely implemented in many industries, including construction industry.
