摘要
Transmission of power over long distances has become an important aspect in today's world because of off-shore generations from wind, ocean currents, tidal, waves and others. In general, HVDC technology is well-accepted around the world. The VSC-HVDC has gained importance over the years. Certain problems regarding protection still remain, but with the implementation of the hybrid breaker, the system can be protected from system faults. This paper discusses the effects of various kinds of faults on the VSC-HVDC system and detection of fault current using Wavelet transform (WT). The output of the wavelet transform is used for detection of the fault currents. The system is designed and simulated in PSCAD/EMTDC and results are discussed.
