Tribocorrosion Behavior of 2205 Duplex Stainless Steel in Sodium Chloride and Sodium Sulfate Environments

摘要
The tribocorrosion behavior of 2205 duplex stainless steel was studied in 0.6 M NaCl and 0.6 M Na2SO4. It was found that the presence of the aggressive chloride (Cl-) ion enhanced material loss of 2205 during sliding at applied anodic potentials within the passive regime for this material. Sliding wear in 0.6 M NaCl increased the amount of material loss by 23-36% and resulted in smoother wear tracks with less evidence of ploughing and third body particle action compared to experiments in 0.6 M Na2SO4. Wear induced localized corrosion was also promoted by the presence of Cl- at 600 and 800 mV(SCE), where attack occurred predominately in the ferrite phase and at the ferrite/austenite boundary.
