Room temperature weak ferromagnetism in new Bi2MnCrO6 synthesized by gel combustion method

摘要
In this work, we have explored the structural, morphological, optical and magnetic properties of new double perovskite Bi2CrMnO6 (BCMO) material prepared by citrate-assisted gel combustion method. The Rietveld refinement of the X-ray diffraction (XRD) pattern revealed the pure phase formation with monoclinic structure and P2(1)/n symmetry. The particle size was determined using the Debye Scherer formula and a scanning electron microscope image (SEM). Energy-dispersive absorption X-ray (EDAX) spectroscopy was used to confirm the elemental composition. The Fourier transform infrared spectrum (FTIR) has been recorded in the frequency range of 400-1200 cm(-1), and it confirms the formation of metal oxygen bonding. The Tauc relation from the UV-visible absorption spectra was used to predict an indirect optical band gap of 2.35 eV. The magnetic studies at room temperature confirmed weak ferromagnetic behavior of the material due to the mixed oxide valances and weakening of AFM super-exchange interaction.
