Civil society and democratic state in Russia

Civil society and democratic state in Russia (by Viktor Levashov) presents results of an all-Russia monitoring survey by strategic social and socio-political studies department, Institute of social and political studies, RAS in 2000 to 2005. The data of perennial monitoring reflect dynamics of reception by the main groups and shifts of the radical reforms results under a globalization impact in the context of the theory and practice of sustainable development. A key aim of the paper is to preliminary assess the effects of reforms launched 20 years ago. Social atmosphere and electoral preferences of Russians are a focus of the study. Current social and political processes are analyzed, and prospects for development of the Russian state and society are suggested.
