Introduction of Facility Therapy Dogs to 911 Communication Centers: A Proposal (vol 26, pg 147, 2020)

Emergency dispatch operators, like many first responders, are frequently exposed to vicarious trauma; however, due to unique job demands that impact effective movement related to trauma resolution, dispatch operators may require a different approach to these stressors. We contend that introducing facility therapy dogs to 911 dispatch centers may be a diverse form of psychological service provision uniquely suited to address the needs of dispatch operators. © 2019 American Psychological Association.
