Self-efficacy and networking behavior among the unemployed: The role of unemployment stigma and the search for resources and challenges This study examines the relationship between self-efficacy and net-working intensity among the unemployed. Specifically, the role of expansion-oriented reemployment crafting (EORC: increasing resources and challenges) and unemployment stigma are taken into account. The study had a cross-sectional design, as 170 unemployed individuals filled out an online questionnaire once. Results showed that self-efficacy was positively related to networking intensity via EORC. Moreover, unlike expected, the positive relationship between self-efficacy and EORC was stronger among those with higher (instead of lower) levels of unemployment stigma. The current study takes a first important step in examining the importance of EORC in the relationship between self -efficacy and job search behavior (i.e., networking intensity). Moreover, this is one of the first studies examining the associations between unemployment stigma and job search behavior.
