This study aimed to evaluate the psychometric properties of the Fear of COVID-19 Scale in a sample of Brazilian adolescents, comparing them by sex and sexual orientation. An exploratory study was conducted in which 176 adolescents (M=15.5 years) participated. Characterization questionnaires, the Fear of COVID-19 Scale, and the Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale 21 were applied remotely. The data was described and analysis of variance, confirmatory factor analysis, network analysis, and convergent and predictive validities testing were developed. The data revealed that the fear scale can be applied in the adolescent population, being able to assess fear related to COVID-19, including fear of contamination and death, and can be used with adaptations in other times of endemics or pandemics. There was no higher occurrence of fear among non-heterosexual adolescents, as hypothesized, however, they did show more engagement in psychotherapy and more symptoms of depression, anxiety, and stress.
