摘要
Poverty is considered as multidimensional. Poverty appears as not having enough income, consumption, not an adequate living condition or not fulfilling basic needs. There are different definitions and methodologies for poverty measurements. To end poverty in all its forms everywhere is the first goal of the 2030 agenda for sustainable development goals (SDGs). According to the World Bank, India accounts for a high proportion of people living in extreme poverty. The data on poverty levels is missing for the latest years, making difficult policy design and implementation. To fill the gap on data for missing years and having updated figures, we try to predict poverty using an exponential statistical model. There are considered different lines of monetary poverty; people living with less than $1, $1.9, $2 or $3 per day. The trend in poverty rate has decreased in recent years. Nevertheless, the worldwide objective of ending poverty is a challenge and requires several actions and policies to achieve it as part of the SDGs.
