摘要
Wide-ranging impacts of a changing climate are already being documented in many parts of Bangladesh, recognized globally as one of the most susceptible countries to the influences of climate change. Bangladesh's water sector infrastructures are expected to experience substantial damages due to more frequent and/or more intense floods and extreme weather events. Particularly, the southern portion of the country faces severe risk due to climate change induced susceptibility and various socioeconomic and environmental barriers that are hindering sustainable adaptation. The primary goal of this review is to produce a comprehensive study on climate change impacts, mitigation, and adaptation in the water sector in Bangladesh. In the past, numerous researchers have studied climate change impacts, mitigation, and adaptation strategies in Bangladesh; however, comparatively few studies attempted to determine the overall efficacy of adaptation measures implemented at the local and national levels. This paper is the outcome of a systematic review of relevant scholarly and nonscholarly materials, and it offers a deeper insight into Bangladesh's climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies.
