LEARNING AT THE SERVICE OF MOTIVATION: THE IMPACT OF SL ON STUDENTS' MOTIVATION IN A TRANSLATION MODULE

摘要
The present paper is based on a service-learning project implemented in an undergraduate course on translation. Its main objectives are analyzing the impact of this methodology on the motivation of students of this discipline and pinpointing the main motivational triggers it creates. For these purposes, the study combines a quantitative and a qualitative approach built on two complementary data collection tools: a questionnaire conducted on all participants in the initiative and a subsequent group of discussion with some of them. The former was answered by 28 out of 33 potential respondents, whereas the latter was formed by five students of the module. Results show that service-learning fosters translation students' motivation at large and at different levels: educational, personal, professional and community involvement.
