摘要
Falls in the elderly are a geriatric syndrome that increases disabilities and the burden of morbidity and mortality at these ages. Different components influence the growth of the frequency of falls. The objective of this research is to analyze the relationship between the frequency of falls in the elderly and the component that generates it. It is a bibliographic review study, in which 32 documents published by academic Google Scielo, Latindex, Redalyc and Pubmed between the years 2017 and 2023 were selected. The main contributions are concerning causes and relationships established between the frequency of falls and the components that generate it: frailty, alteration of postural control and cognitive deterioration. It is concluded that each component contributes to the increased risk and frequency of falls. In the elderly, there is an association between the components and risk factors that make the elderly a venerable person to suffer falls more frequently.
