摘要
Novel platinum-doped borate glass systems with chemical formula 25ZnO-25BaO-xPtO(2)-(50-x)B2O3: (0 <= x <= 1) mol%) have been prepared via the traditional technique of melt-quenching. The significant influence of PtO2 on the physical, linear/nonlinear optical properties, and gamma-rays attenuation competence of the prepared Pt0.0-Pt1.0 glasses were examined. XRD measurements confirmed that the proposed glasses were in amorphous nature. The density (rho(glass)) of Pt samples enhanced from 3.05 +/- 0.01 to 4.10 +/- 0.01 g/cm(3) for Pt0.0 and Pt1.0 glasses, . Values of optical energy band (E-g) were varied from 2.921 to 1.551 eV for Pt0.0 to Pt1.0 glass samples. The linear (n(o)) and nonlinear refractive indices (n(2)) were changed from 2.423 to 2.898 and 5.962 x 10(-11) (esu) to 26.528 x 10(-11) (esu), respectively. At low photon energy (0.015 MeV), the mass attenuation coefficient (MAC) possessed maximum values ranged between 38.182 and 40.783 cm(2)/g for Pt0.0 and Pt1.0 glasses, respectively. The half-value layer (HVL) parameter followed the order (HVL)(Pt0.0) > (HVL)(Pt0.1) > (HVL)(Pt0.2) > (HVL)(Pt0.3) > (HVL)(Pt0.4) > (HVL)(Pt0.5) > (HVL)(Pt0.75) > (HVL)(Pt1.0). Our results depicted that Pt glasses can be used as a preferable alternative material for radiation safety application.
