摘要
The present study aimed to determine the prediction level of internet dependency in adolescents by anger and shyness. The study was conducted based on the correlational design method. The study participants included high school students in Adiyaman province, located in the Southeastern Anatolia Region in Turkey. The study group included 343 students (age=15.72; Sd=.86; range=14-17; 184 female [53.6%] and 159 male [46.4%]). Multiple regression analysis was used to analyze the study data. IBM SPSS 22.0 software was used to analyze the study data. The findings demonstrated that the increase in internet addiction score, increased trait anger, anger control, and shyness scores, while the decrease in internet addiction score, increased anger control and anger-out scores. Furthermore, the anger-in and "anger control" sub-dimensions of the STAI scale and shyness predicted internet addiction. Thus, it could be suggested that anger and shyness effectively explained the variation in internet addiction.
