摘要：

Endometriosis is a disease that is pathologically highly complex. The question of heredity is thought to be possible and is supported by observations of the occurrence within families or among siblings. Large studies appear to be able to confirm this fact. Furthermore, it has been possible to comprehend the pathomechanisms of the disease by altered gene expression patterns. Hot spots for genomic heredity could be identified in genome-wide association studies; however, indisputable evidence for a clear hereditary pattern has not yet been found.
