摘要
We report the mechanical properties of agarose hydrogels enhanced by the introduction of a lyotropic chromonic liquid crystal, Sunset Yellow FCF (SSY). The soft, fibre-like structures of the chromonic aggregates interact with and reinforce the hydrogel networks, creating soft composites with maximum stress, fracture strain, and stiffness (Young's modulus) 30 to 40% larger than those of pure agarose hydrogels.
