Estimation of Q-factor and Its Comparison with Simulation Result for a Resonant Transmission Line having Microwave Device Applications

摘要
In this paper, Q-factor of a resonant microstrip line is expressed analytically considering all types of loss from microstrip line (MTL), split ring resonator (SRR), and also, from dielectric substrate. For modeling, a lumped element equivalent circuit is assumed and then, using Lagrangian formalism, the necessary equations are developed to calculate average energy stored and power dissipation from this coupled system. For different split-gap orientations of a single gap square-shaped SRR, the Q-factors of the resonator are calculated with different coupling distances assuming the same set of geometrical parameters of this coupled system. Also, simulated Q-factors are obtained using CST Microwave Studio, and they are compared with analytical results.
