Knowledge about scientific production is important to direct and optimize new studies. Curcuma zedoaria, from the Zingiberaceae family, has been used for thousands of years. The objective of this study was to know the scientific production of the species, with the indicators: scientific production; authorship; crosscountry collaboration; impact factor; research trends and applicability of research. We use bibliometrics and scientometrics tools with searches in the Web of Science and Scopus databases, and The Lens platform for patent analysis. A total of 469 different publications were found in Scopus and WoS from 1881 to November 2022, with the years 2018 to 2020 having the highest volume of publications. China, Japan and India stand out for the number of publications and citations. The most relevant research areas are Pharmacology, Chemistry, Plant Science, with a tendency towards anticancer activity studies. The patents are aimed at the development of products against tumors and nodules, anti-inflammatories, and analgesic spray. Of the 1,180 patent documents, 168 are in active status. This work points out that C. zedoaria is a species of scientific interest, and research is evolving towards the most diverse applications such as medicines, herbal medicines, nutraceuticals and cosmetics.
