摘要:
To a closed metaphysics claiming to discover or identify fixed essences and seek a formula of nature that would have no history, Goodman opposes an open metaphysics. People make the worlds in which they inhabit and in which they interact, and they make them using representational devices. If abandoning the spectator's point of view implies that we, as speakers and producers of symbolic tools, are shaping of the world we inhabit, and if improving these tools is within our grasp, then it is a matter of imagining improvements that lead to effective transformations, both cognitively and politically. This article connects the Goodmanian theory of worldmaking to the practice of conceptual engineering. In the final analysis, it sets out to show what conceptual engineering would gain from redeploying the Goodmanian theory of projectibility (degrees of projectibility, implementation, inherited projectibility).
