摘要
F. A. Hayek created an interdisciplinary synthesis to support the normative demands of liberalism, while also updating the liberal framework of social theory. Hayek's investiga-tions in this direction can be dated back to his early writings. Within the context of this study, we will mostly look at Hayek's hitherto undervalued texts. Based on these, Hayek was a pioneer of complexity theory. The "Great Society" organized along liberal prin-ciples is preferable to more centralized because it forms a more complex social order. In Hayek's work, complexity is described in positive terms, providing a greater degree of freedom for individual actors. Thanks to information feedback mechanisms, liberal society self-organizes as a networked economic model emerging from decentralized eco-nomic actions. Complexity is possible precisely because of the autonomy of individual initiatives. Hayek thinks of society as an information system. However, negative forms of complexity such as chaos are also conceivable.
