摘要
The main objective of this study is to investigate the applicability of PCM-composite aggregate usage in buildings and to determine the appropriate PCM properties for this application. In this context, building energy analyses are carried out for various parameters. The analyses are carried out for the climatic conditions of Turkey. According to Koppen-Trewartha climate classification, subtropical and temperate climates are seen in Turkey. Results are evaluated by taking into account the three criteria; energy saving ratio, latent heat storage time ratio and average liquid fraction. As a result of the evaluation, the potential for application of PCM-composite aggregates to the building envelope is evaluated. Results shows that energy saving can be achieved throughout Turkey with the application of PCM-composite aggregate. However, when the PCM is chosen in accordance with its intended use, the amount of energy savings achieved is very low. Therefore, the use of PCM-aggregate in buildings is not rational.
