Research with children needs to understand the child as a historical subject, of rights, powerful and protagonist. More than giving children a voice, listening to and legitimizing what they are saying is essential. This article brings to the debate, discussions around the realization of Research with Children of Early Childhood Education in the Graduate Programs stricto sensu of the State of Para. The methodology used was the bibliographical literature review, presenting a mapping carried out on the Capes website theses and dissertations regarding the data construction strategies present in research with children carried out in the period from 2017 to 2022. It is concluded that the need to discuss about the specificities of research with children, because it is not an easy task, requires precious time, sensitive listening, perception of children's languages and, above all, respect for them, ensuring its expressiveness and recognition in the research process.
