摘要
In view of the growing evolution of electronic games and their relevance in the scenario of sports competitions, the importance of discussing the legitimacy of games known as e Sports as an authentic sports category becomes increasingly important. In this sense, the present work proposes to show the path taken by electronic games from its use as a kind of toy to the current context with its insertion in the contemporary sports modality of e Sports. It was also sought to emphasize the defense of labor rights that professional players would enjoy as a result of the legitimacy and regulation of e-Sports as a sport. For this, an extensive bibliographic survey was carried out and it was found that there is a solid base of economic data, reports and research that make this path possible. It could be verified that e-Sports have a wide range of characteristics that bring them closer to traditional sports categories and have conditions to be recognized as a contemporary sport. The new professions that emerged from the borders opened by the advancement of technology must be aligned with social rights, in order to value human dignity; health promotion and labor rights.
