摘要
Many factors are responsible for the appearance of facial aging, such as skin laxity. The muscles of facial expression play an important role in this laxity process, these muscles are distributed in functional groups around the face and with aging, facial soft tissues gradually descend, losing volume and elasticity. External muscle fibers of the orbital part usually extend beyond the orbital rim to the periorbital regions, including the cheeks, forehead, and temples, and interdigitate with the surrounding muscles. Among them, muscle bundles such as the Malaris, located just below the skin in the lateral region of the Orbicularis oculi (Orbicularis oculi) muscle, have been described. This study presents the first report of preliminary results in the Latino population on the effect of botulinum toxin (BoNT-A) on the Malaris muscle as a minimally invasive intradermal treatment for facial rejuvenation. We evaluated 10 women of Latin origin, with Fitzpatrick phototypes III and IV predominant (60%), with a mean age of 42.5 +/- 7.5 years; to whom BoNT-A was applied, in the lateral part of the Orbicularis oculi muscle at the level of the dermis, in the lateral border of the temporal area, in the lateral bundle of the Malaris muscle and along the mandible by the platysma. Through anthropometric facial measurements are evaluated from analysis of digital and 3D photographs. Observing a post-treatment facial rejuvenation and remodeling in these patients, a minimally invasive and safe procedure that exerts a lifting effect towards the origin of the superficial temporalis fascia muscle with changes (p < 0.05) in the nose outline, lifting of the eyebrows, added to a change (p < 0.05) of a more oval facial contour, decrease of the wrinkles at the level of the temple and forehead, a decrease of the malar bags, with smooth and shiny skin.
