EMOTIONS IN SOCIOLOGICAL RESEARCH: THEORIES AND CONCEPTS

The main objective of this article is to provide an overview of the main sociological theories inherent to the study of emotions. In the first section, the best-known approaches that characterize the so-called sociology of emotions are described. The second section involves the analysis of the key concepts-emotion work, emotional labor, feeling rules, display rules-which represent the operational tools necessary to carry out comprehensive empirical analyses. In conclusion, the reflection will focus on the role of emotions in the construction of social interaction.
