摘要
Increasing digitalization in dentistry allows implant-prosthetic therapy concepts to be more predictable. This might lead to fewer biological and technical complications in restorations in the long term. In the case of implant-supported all-ceramic bridges, the crucial manufacturing steps are insertion mode and correct selection of the restoration material. It is important to evaluate advantages and disadvantages of screw-retention and cementation to make an appropriate choice according to the clinical situation. There is no evidence for an advantage of screw-retained or cemented implant -supported all-ceramic fixed dental prostheses (FDPs) at the moment. Looking at the restoration material, the data are still very thin. Although data over five to ten years for fully veneered zirconia are available, there is no explicit information concerning monolithic restorations. In addition, high chipping rates are reported for implant-supported FDPs made of fully veneered zirconia, which further complicates a universal decision-making process. Therefore, the following article will focus on new findings regarding the insertion mode, restoration material, and aspects of planning as well as abutment design, practically and evidence-based.
