Now that more individuals are surviving larger burns, clinicians should develop a work-ing knowledge of complications, outcomes, and long-term challenges. The modern burn center needs a robust infrastructure to meet these challenges, and the burn com-munity needs diligent investigation into treatment approaches to guide best practices and to support evidence-based protocols.
