摘要
In this paper, a dual-PA transmitter architecture with two antennas is presented for boosting transmission efficiency. The baseband signal is separated in the time domain into a low peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) signal and a low-duty cycle signal, transmitted with the specific power levels and then recombined over the air to enhance the transmission efficiency. The initial optimum configuration of the PAPR and power of the separated signal is determined by the theoretical analysis, and further optimized according to the fabricated PA efficiency. The transmitter architecture is demonstrated at 3.5GHz. For a 40MHz OFDM signal with 8.5dB PAPR, the transmission efficiency is 68.5% with ideal antennas, and EVM is 2.78% after digital pre-distortion (DPD).
