BOYARS SALTYKOVS IN THE HISTORY AND BOOK CULTURE OF RUSSIA OF THE 17th CENTURY

The article examines the activities of prominent representatives of the boyar aristocracy of the 17(th) century, Boris, Mikhail, Peter Saltykovs in their attitude to the Russian book culture of that time. In a number of cases, their activities had state and public significance: the resumption of book publishing and book references after the Time of Troubles, participation in the creation of works that later received the status of national historical and literary monuments, their attempt to preserve handwritten and printed books. The article presents the mostly possible full list of books owned by the Saltykovs, defines the range of books created by their orders, bought by them, invested in monasteries and temples.
