Calling a new competition on Art and Design, in 2004, was a challenge as director of the Department of Art and Visual Communication Eusebio Sempere of the IAC Juan Gil Albert (2003-2019). From the first moment, I had the confidence of Joaquin Santo, then director of that institution. The idea of linking Art and Design was added on the one hand, to its particularities, meanings and expressions, and on the other hand, to the purpose of an open call, aimed at inviting students of Arts, Fine Arts, Design, Advertising, Architecture and other academic disciplines taught in the Schools and Universities of the Valencian Community to participate. Initiated by and to promote the creativity of these young people and, in each edition, as indicated in the rules, two proposals were presented to them. In the first call, in 2005, the themes were WATER/FIRE and the format determined was that of a poster. In addition to the work in its individual identity, the idea was to promote participation in an original group exhibition with the awarding of prizes and runners-up prizes. In addition to these meetings, a series of conferences were organized with the participation of experts in the field and based on the experiences of different important professionals. There were seven editions, from 2005 to 2012, with excellent results related to creativity, the meeting and the involvement of both students and teachers.
