The world "totea" (bursts): lessons from the life of noise in San Bernardo, Cundinamarca

The peasants of San Bernardo, Cundinamarca have the certainty that the world is exploding cons- tantly. This article develops the notion of "totiar" as a theory attentive to the sounds that take place in the lives of my friends and teachers. The reflections presented here are a product of my fieldwork as a day laborer during the first half of 2019 and part of 2020. Working on the crops of Agua Negra I learned that "totiar" is a concept that explains different sound and material dimensions of peasant life. This article argues, using different sound paths, that sounds are not a backdrop and that to lead life it is necessary to pay attention to noises.
