In today's world, as each aspect of our lives is becoming more and more enhanced, IoT plays a major role in all development areas. However, the same has not been implemented on a major scale for interior and exterior lighting systems. A plethora of research is being carried out and people are looking for a clean and better solution for the next generations. The street light system of India is still not automated and consumes huge amounts of energy. This paper introduces a prototype system which revolutionises the street lighting system in India. The prototype system uses two sensors (LDR and IR), LED lights and a microcontroller to have varying brightness levels (for different levels of natural brightness and presence of people on the streets). The microcontroller is also used to send sensor data to a web server over the internet, which explores its potential to be as a monitoring system. The system successfully reduces energy consumption massively with the implementation of LEDs and varying brightness. At the same time, it can also be used as a monitoring system which could help with various types of analysis. Further, we investigate a model which supports zero carbon footprint and complete sustainability.
