The Environmental Efficiency Assessment of Logistics Service Providers: a Non-radial Data Envelopment Analysis

摘要
Logistics activities have drawn lots of attention for its environmental externalities. From micro perspective, this paper gives comprehensive measurement of environmental efficiency to logistics service providers by using non-radial data envelopment analysis. The environmental efficiency measurement is framed into two by environmental management strategies, the reactive and proactive. The results show that the environmental efficiency values under reactive strategy are higher than the efficiency values under proactive strategy, while the efficiencies under proactive strategy are more differentiated. Moreover, the statistical test shows that the environmental performance of international logistics companies is better than Chinese logistics companies under the proactive strategy. These empirical findings can provide implications to the reformation of environmental management strategy in the sustainable development of the supply chain.
