Metamaterial Cladding for Bending Loss Reduction in Silicon Nitride Waveguide

摘要
In this work, an integrated platform based on silicon nitride strip waveguides is used as a reference platform to investigate some waveguiding characteristics in metamaterial cladding. The novel platform is composed of an alldielectric anisotropic metamaterial cladding positioned at the bottom of a silicon nitride waveguide core. The fundamental TM mode showed a bend loss reduction of about 1.8 dB/180 degrees in comparison to a standard platform.
