摘要
A new species of the extinct family Orthophlebiidae, Burmorthophlebia macularis sp. nov., has been described from the mid-Cretaceous Kachin, Myanmar, based on two amber specimens with well-preserved mouthparts and unique non-genital abdominal structures. The new species has chewing mouthparts including prolonged clypeus and subgenae, maxillary palps with five segments, and labial palps with two segments. The mouthpart structures resemble those of the extant Panorpidae. In addi-tion, a series of non-genital structures are distinguished from any other extinct or extant scorpionflies, implying their different mating strategy in the mid-Cretaceous.(c) 2022 Elsevier Ltd.
