摘要
The utilization of available residential roof space for solar photovoltaic (PV) system installation is often not fully achieved due to current utility rate structures that do not compensate for excess generation. Therefore, evaluating the optimum utilization of residential roof space associated with its economic benefits is a growing concern for residential property owners. This research study aims to assess the cost-optimal pathways for residential solar photovoltaic systems by creating a distributed community solar (DCS) network through which a group of residential units shares available roofs for solar PV installation as a community solar site. Further, an extrapolated case with increased electrical energy consumption is demonstrated to highlight the effectiveness of the DCS network when it accommodates residential units with little or no available roof space for solar PV installation.
