摘要
Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) have been regarded as an efficient technology to enhance the network performance. To utilize the high flexibility and mobility, we propose a UAV-assisted transmission strategy for cellular base stations (BSs). Specifically, each UAV has a BS-centric flight area, and when the user is in this area, the UAV flies above the user for service, otherwise, the UAV flies to the location in this area closest to the user, which results in the spatial correlation between UAVs and BSs. In order to well capture this spatial characteristic and evaluate the effectiveness of the strategy under a large-scale network, we propose a UAV-assisted cellular network model based on the generalized Gauss-Poisson process. Under the above setup, we derive the success probability to characterize the performance enhanced by UAVs, analyze the upper bound of the success probability and provide a simplified approximation. The numerical results show that with the help of the UAV, the success probability can be significantly enhanced.
