摘要
This work is housed in the field of the History of Health and Diseases and presents Brazilian childhood as an object of study from a historiographic perspective, paying attention, above all, to the publications from the collection Uma Historia Brasileira das Diseases. The main objective is to analyze how the aforementioned collection contributes to unveil basic questions about not only the illnesses that afflicted and afflict childhood, but, above all, to clarify gaps that still remain in terms of historiography. The mapping of the main themes of the collection leads us to the hypothesis that the historiography of the History of Diseases has demonstrated that the prominent role of diseases in the histories of humanity is closely linked to efforts for their control.
