Drilling fluid adhesion resistance of electroless plating nickel phosphorus (Ni-P) alloy coating deposited on laser-textured surface of bit waterways

摘要
The drilling ball phenomenon on polycrystalline diamond compact(PDC) bit seriously restricts the exploitation of oil and gas fields. Wear-resistant Ni-P alloy coating and surface hydrophobic texture are used to solve the problem of ball drilling. Ni-P alloy coating deposited on 42CrMo laser-textured (rectangular, linear and sinusoidal) surface by electroless plating. In the wettability of water-based drilling fluid, the rectangular texture coating with a spacing of 150-200 mu m has a maximum contact angle of 133.7 degrees, which is 75.69 % higher than the 42CrMo steel. the anti-mud adhesion and erosion life has also been improved to a certain extent. This research provides important experimental results and theoretical basis for solving the ball drilling problem of PDC bits.
