THE "PAULISTA" MEDIA AND THE SOCIAL SECURITY REFORM IN THE BOLSONARO GOVERNMENT

This article investigates the performance of the press media, represented by the newspapers Folha de Sao Paulo and O Estado de Sao Paulo, in approving the most recent pension reform, Constitutional Amendment no. 103/2019. It analyzes the number of editorials published by the two newspapers on social security reform during 2019 and the main arguments mobilized in favor of the proposal. The conclusion revels both newspapers endeavored in favor of the dominant classes for the approval of the Reform, tried to generate widespread consensus, and put pressure on the parliamentarians for the quick approval of the original text of the Constitutional Amendment Proposal.
