摘要：

Development of the material part of the Russian artillery in the first half of the 19th century. It followed the path of improving the designs of smoothbore guns and ammunition for them. The article is devoted to the attempts of Russian scientists and inventors to improve the combat qualities of explosive artillery shells, in particular, to increase the accuracy of firing smoothbore artillery guns. The research is based on unpublished archival documents.
