THE REAL DANCE MUSIC. AN ETHNOGRAPHIC APPROACH TO THE SENSES ABAOUT ELECTRONIC DANCE MUSIC IN CÓRDOBA, ARGENTINA.

This text attempts to problematize the mechanisms involved in the production of classificatory labels to describe music, and their relevance as sociological tags that also organize the experience of social life in different dimensions. To this end, it presents an analysis based on an ethnographic research conducted in the city of Cordoba between 2014 and 2016, which aims to recover local understandings regarding electronic music, paying special attention to the ways of creating categories and their implications in the lived experience of its fans. Starting from the analysis of a case of restriction imposed by state agents to electronic music events in Argentina, this paper aims to investigate the different ways of creating classifications to differentiate music by different actors, focusing on those senses mobilized by fans of these sounds in the local context. In this sense, the central questions that articulate this paper are: How do the fans themselves define what electronic music is, how is this definition constructed and what effects does it produce?
