CRITICAL PERSPECTIVES: INFINITE HORIZONS IN THE CENTENARY OF LIGHTS OF BOHEMIA (ARTICULE-RESEST-A)

The one-hundredth anniversary of the first publication of Luces de Bohemia, initially in the journal Espana and then as a book in 1924, has produced and will continue to produce various studies that propose new approaches to this play by Valle-Inclan. For example, a volume published in 2022 compiles the contributions to a conference that took place in Madrid two years earlier. This book discusses several key issues, such as the play's relationship to tragedy, allusions to literary authors in the work, and the trajectory of its stagings. In addition to reviewing these contributions, this article considers other issues, such as the date of the play's writing, as well as the supposed censorship imposed by Luis Araquistain that causes three scenes not to be included in the version published in Espana.
